Our collaboration with Montana Technologies, the developer of the transformational AirJoule® system, aims to leverage AirJoule®’s cutting edge technology to generate pure distilled water from air and reduce energy consumption for air conditioning, significantly enhancing water security and energy sustainability in the UAE.
Technology Summary:
Provides energy efficient atmospheric water harvesting capabilities that can be used to improve water security, reduce power consumption for air conditioning, and support sustainability projects.

AirJoule® utilizes a Metal Organic Framework (“MOF”) and a patented system to produce dehumidified air and pure, distilled water, PFAS-free, from air. In turn, the pure, PFAS-free, distilled water and the dehumidified air can be used for a variety of applications, including air conditioning, evaporative cooling, drinking water, and water for industrial or agricultural purposes.

Technology Summary:
When used for air conditioning, AirJoule® represents a step-change in air conditioning efficiency. Conventional air conditioning uses a 122-year-old compressor and vapor refrigerant system to remove humidity and cool the air. In over a century, there have been few technological breakthroughs to transform this sector, until now.
Moisture in the air (humidity) contains heat. Conventional air conditioners must remove moisture by running humid air across an evaporator coil filled with low-temperature refrigerant. The moisture in the air condenses into liquid form and is then disposed of through a drainpipe. This process requires significant energy from the air conditioner and is inefficient. It also treats the water as a waste byproduct.
AirJoule® effectively pre-treats the air by removing moisture much more efficiently such that the air conditioner can cool the air without having to remove the humidity. The AirJoule® technology utilizes heat exchangers coated with a metal organic framework, in conjunction with a patented process, to absorb water vapor molecules from ambient air. The technology reuses heat generated from the adsorption process and significantly reduces the reliance on external power. Thus, AirJoule® has much lower power requirements than a conventional air conditioner.
This dehumidification process can reduce power consumption by up to 75% compared to conventional air conditioners that rely on vapor compression. In certain humid environments, AirJoule® can also eliminate the need for environmentally harmful refrigerants.
